Farewell ceremony held for renowned author Füruzan in Beyoğlu
A farewell ceremony was held on February 14, World Storytelling Day, at the publishing house associated with the renowned writer and author Füruzan (Feruze Çerçi), who passed away at the age of 92. Füruzan will be laid to rest at Zincirlikuyu Cemetery on Friday, February 16.

The writer and author Füruzan, born Feruze Çerçi, who contributed works such as 'Parasız Yatılı' (Boarding Student), 'Gecenin Öteki Yüzü' (The Other Side of the Night), 'Kırkyedililer' (The Forty-Sevens), and 'Benim Sinemalarım' (My Cinemas) to Turkish literature, passed away at the age of 92 at the hospital where she was receiving treatment.
The news of the death of Füruzan, one of the most important figures in Turkish literature who produced works in the genres of poetry, novels, travelogues, essays, and children's literature in addition to short stories, was announced by poet Elif Sofya with the words, "Füruzan has gone to eternity."
FRIENDS ATTENDED THE COMMEMORATION CEREMONY
A farewell ceremony was held today, February 14, World Storytelling Day, at the publishing house she was affiliated with for the late author.
The ceremony was attended by the author's daughter, Aslı Selçuk, as well as her artist friends and readers. The farewell ceremony began with a screening of photographs of the author. Following the memorial speeches, the friends who bid farewell to the author could not hold back their tears.
'I NEVER LOOKED AT HER AS A CLASSIC MOTHER'
Speaking after bidding farewell to her mother, Aslı Selçuk said, "Füruzan was one of the most important writers of both world literature and Turkish literature. I am not saying this because she is my mother. Everyone who came here today and everything said about her was very beautiful. She has many admirers, both as readers and as artist friends.
There were very valuable people at the farewell ceremony today; it was a lovely ceremony. I was very moved. Beyond being my mother, Füruzan was a unique value. I never looked at her with the eyes of a classic mother. She was a woman like no other."
The late renowned author will be laid to rest at Zincirlikuyu Cemetery on Friday, February 16, following the noon prayer.
