Franz Schubert's 'Winterreise' comes to the AKM
'Winterreise' (Winter Journey), a 24-part poem cycle composed by Austrian composer Franz Schubert and written by German poet Wilhelm Müller, is coming to the AKM with an interpretation by the Modern Dance Ensemble Istanbul.

'Winterreise' tells the story of a dramatic journey that begins when the poet realizes his beloved has fallen in love with someone else.
The traveler, having lost love and living in solitude, leaves his village and loved ones behind after learning this painful truth, questioning his own existence and the meaning of life.
The work, which features choreography by Deniz Özaydın, Evrim Akyay, Emre Karaca, Huri Murphy, İsmet Köroğlu, Mert Öztekin, and Tuğçe Göncü, has its libretto and direction by Mert Öztekin.
These Lieder, composed by Schubert, are performed by baritone Kevork Tavityan and a string quartet consisting of Aslı Ceren Gürkan, Pınar Gizem Korkmaz, Verda Gül, and Gözde Öcal Güvemli.
The set and costume design for the evening belong to Olcay Engin Kaymaz, while the visual and lighting concept is by Burhan Yücel.
In the set design for this work, MDTistanbul aimed to draw attention to paper waste and contribute to recycling by using waste paper from the Istanbul State Opera and Ballet and various other institutions.
'Winterreise' (Winter Journey) will meet the audience at the Atatürk Cultural Center Theater Stage on March 5 and April 2.
