Good news for travel enthusiasts: Two more routes added to the list

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu provided information regarding tourist train services. 

Reminding that the fairytale journey of the Touristic Eastern Express began this season from the Historic Ankara Railway Station on Monday, December 11, 2023, Uraloğlu stated that the 2023-2024 winter season services were completed with the train departing from Kars on March 10. 

Minister Uraloğlu pointed out that with the investments made in the railway sector over the last 22 years, while high-speed and rapid railway lines have been expanded, the quality of existing conventional lines has also been increased, and explained that services aimed at tourism have begun to be operated on these lines. 

WILL REVITALIZE TOURISM

Emphasizing that the train is not just a means of transportation, but a vehicle that offers very important opportunities ranging from the revitalization of tourism to the development of various fields of art, Uraloğlu recalled that in this direction, the Touristic Eastern Express was put into service for tourism purposes as an alternative to the Eastern Express on the Ankara-Kars route.

Providing information about the seasonal services, Uraloğlu said, "The Touristic Eastern Express made a total of 84 train trips, 42 in the Ankara-Kars direction and 42 in the Kars-Ankara direction. As of the end of the period, 11 thousand 611 passengers traveled on these services" he stated. 

Pointing out that the Touristic Eastern Express, which was put into operation for tourism purposes, brings vitality to the economic, social, and cultural life of the region while passengers discover Anatolia during its stops of approximately three hours each in Erzincan, Erzurum, İliç, Divriği, and Sivas, Uraloğlu expressed that this also contributes to activating the potential of the region.
