Grammy-winning artist Samara Joy is coming to Istanbul

Samara Joy, who won "Best Jazz Vocal Album" and "Best New Artist" at the 65th Grammy Awards (2023) and the "Best Jazz Performance" award this year for her single "Tight," will meet music lovers at the Cemal Reşit Rey (CRR) Concert Hall on Friday evening, April 19.

Described by Regina King as "a young woman who seems to be channeling Sarah Vaughan and Ella Fitzgerald in her own body," Samara Joy also draws attention with her viral video performances and her popularity, having reached 200,000 followers on TikTok.

The young artist, who has performed at the world's most prestigious jazz festivals and venues from Europe to America, will be accompanied at her CRR concert by dynamic drummer Evan Sherman, virtuoso double bassist Felix Moseholm, and talented pianist Cameron Campbell.

Born in 1999, the artist completed her music education in 2021. That same year, she was named "Best New Artist" by JazzTimes with her self-titled debut album.

She appeared in the music video for "Summertime" from Porgy and Bess by Broadway, Inc. in Women of Color.
