Greenwich award for Turkish astrophotographer
Turkish astrophotographer Mehmet Ergün placed third in the Sun category at the Astronomy Photographer of the Year competition, organized by the Royal Observatory Greenwich in London.

The Astronomy Photographer of the Year competition is known as the world's most prestigious astronomy photography contest.
More than 4 thousand photographs from 64 countries were submitted to the competition, which was held for the 15th time this year. The Sun category is considered a more challenging category compared to others.
EXPLOSION ON THE SUN
Mehmet Ergün captured the photograph that earned him the third-place award in the Sun category using a 500-millimeter lens.
Using special equipment and filters for the photograph, Ergün captured a unique shot of a massive explosion occurring on the Sun.
Ergün stated that this achievement is a great honor for him.
