Güher and Süher Pekinel receive 'Lifetime Achievement Award' in Spain
Güher and Süher Pekinel have been deemed worthy of the Lifetime Achievement Award presented by the International Classical Music Awards (ICMA).

According to the statement regarding the matter, artists Güher and Süher Pekinel will receive their awards at a ceremony to be held on April 12 at the Palau de la Musica in Valencia, Spain.
At the ceremony, a gala concert will be held with the participation of the award winners, hosted by the Orquesta de Valencia under the direction of artistic and music director Alexander Liebreich. The concert will be broadcast live on international television channels.
ENCOURAGING THE UNIQUE VOICES OF CLASSICAL MUSIC
The jury of the ICMA Awards, which has been presented since 2011 to support classical music interpretation and artistic creativity at the highest level and to encourage the unique voices of classical music, consists of international classical music publishers, media representatives, and musicians.
The Pekinels are known as the only duo who play on two pianos back-to-back without making eye contact, focusing on the depths of musical breath, and are recognized for their repertoire enriched by collaborations and albums with the greatest names in the classical music world.
The sisters, who hold the title of "State Artist," are also recipients of the "Honorary Doctorate" from Boğaziçi University and the "Lifetime Achievement Award" from the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV).
In 2021, Güher Pekinel and Süher Pekinel received the Order of Merit from the President of the Federal Republic of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, for their pioneering work in music education systems for children and young people.
