The cause of death of Nobel Prize-winning author and poet Pablo Neruda, who passed away in 1973, will be investigated again.

In its ruling on the case opened at the request of Neruda's nephew, the Chilean appeals court decreed that the cause of death of the poet, who was stated to have died from prostate cancer, must be investigated once more.

TEST RESULTS WILL BE EXAMINED

According to the decision, in addition to Neruda's death certificate, test results conducted by foreign institutions will also be examined.

Neruda's nephew, Rodolfo Reyes, had applied to the court in December 2023 for the case to be reopened and for causes of death other than cancer to be investigated, but had received a negative response.

Reyes had claimed that foreign forensic experts had found evidence pointing to the fact that Neruda was poisoned.
