The film, which has now reached a total of 23.1 million dollars in the country, experienced a 60% drop despite the addition of 120 screens, for a total of 2,325 screens.
The Boy and the Heron surpassed the previous record holder, The Secret World of Arrietty, which grossed a total of 19.2 million dollars in 2012.
