IMM's 1 TL museum initiative expands: Five more museums included
With a unanimous decision by the IMM Assembly, the entrance fee for Turkish citizens at certain paid IMM museums has been set at 1 TL.

The 1 TL entrance fee initiative, launched by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) to improve access to museums, is being expanded. The application was previously implemented at the Theodosius Cistern (Şerefiye Sarnıcı), operated by Kültür AŞ, following the completion of necessary technical and administrative preparations.
The Theodosius Cistern can be visited by Turkish citizens for 1 TL, 7 days a week, between 10:00 and 18:00.
A proposal to set the entrance fee at 1 TL for Turkish citizens at paid museums under the IMM Department of City History, Promotion and Tourism was unanimously approved by the IMM Assembly.
MUSEUMS INCLUDED
The museums included in the 1 TL entrance fee initiative by the assembly decision are as follows:
- - Anadolu Hisarı Museum
- - Tekfur Palace Museum
- - Istanbul Art Museum within the Haliç Shipyard
- - Taksim Republic Museum
- - Aşiyan Museum
According to information provided by the IMM, the majority of the 41 museums and exhibition spaces affiliated with the Department of City History, Promotion and Tourism are already free to visit. The new decision covers the reduction of the entrance fee to 1 TL for Turkish citizens at specific museums that previously charged admission.
Some museums and cultural spaces were kept outside the scope of the application due to their special status. It was reported that the Kemal Sunal Museum would not be included in the 1 TL initiative due to its special situation regarding copyright.
