Istanbul Cinema Museum nominated for 'European Museum of the Year Awards'

The 2024 nominees for the 'European Museum of the Year Awards,' which are presented to celebrate excellence in the museum sector in Europe and to encourage innovative processes in international museology, have been announced.

Among the nominees is the Istanbul Cinema Museum, Turkey's first and most comprehensive cinema museum, which ranks among the top three cinema museums in the world with its unique collection pieces created in collaboration with three collectors and two institutes.

The 'European Museum of the Year Award' (EMYA) is known as the longest-running and most prestigious museum award presented annually by the European Museum Forum under the auspices of the Council of Europe. Museums that earn the award take on a highly significant mission.

Living up to the vision that 'museums are remembered by their buildings' with its unique Baroque architecture dating back nearly 200 years, the Istanbul Cinema Museum is among the strongest candidates on the list with its unique permanent collection of 130 pieces related to Turkish and world cinema history, its digital database, and the national and international exhibitions it hosts in its temporary exhibition hall.
