Istanbul Modern brings visitors together with art during the holiday

For those spending the holiday in Istanbul, Istanbul Modern continues to be one of the city's prominent culture and arts destinations with its current exhibition program. With its exhibitions spanning different disciplines, the museum offers selections from its permanent collection and brings current works to the audience through temporary exhibitions.

One of the highlights of the program is the "Aria of All Colors" exhibition, which focuses on the works of Semiha Berksoy, one of Turkey's first opera singers. While the exhibition centers on the relationship the artist established between performing arts and visual arts, it addresses Berksoy's multi-layered production practice through paintings, drawings, and archival materials. The curatorial framework also points to the connections between the artist's personal narrative world and the development process of modern art in Turkey.

"Panorama: Dreams and Places," the first group photography exhibition opened in the museum's new building, brings together works from 18 artists of different generations spanning the last fifteen years. The exhibition opens up discussions on issues of spatial perception, memory, and representation through works positioned between documentary and fiction. The selection, spread across the first-floor galleries, stands out particularly for its focus on the narrative possibilities of contemporary photography.

The exhibition titled "Floating Islands," which can be viewed in the Collection Exhibition Hall, offers a cross-section of different periods of modern and contemporary art in Turkey with works compiled from Istanbul Modern's collection. On the other hand, the "Renzo Piano: The Spirit of the Place" exhibition, which focuses on the design process of the museum building, includes materials documenting Renzo Piano's architectural approach and the construction process of the Istanbul Modern structure. This exhibition can be visited free of charge in the museum's library area.

The roof terrace of the museum building, located on the Karaköy coastline near the intersection of the Bosphorus and the Golden Horn, has also become a part of the visitor route. The reflecting pool and open-space arrangement serve as a public viewing point with a view overlooking the historic peninsula.

Istanbul Modern is closed on the first day of the holiday; it is open during designated visiting hours on other days.
