Kadir İnanır’s will revealed: A striking detail regarding Jülide Kural

Details regarding the final will of Kadir İnanır, one of the master figures of Turkish cinema, which he had prepared in 2022, have been shared. According to the statement, İnanır bequeathed his entire material and moral estate, including copyrights, to his life partner, the artist Jülide Kural.

Bişar Abdi Alınak, the lawyer for İnanır and Kural, reported that the will was drawn up on May 9, 2022, at the Beyoğlu 48th Notary Public in Istanbul, with a medical report obtained and in the presence of two witnesses. Alınak stated that the document was prepared in full compliance with all legal formalities.

According to the will, if Jülide Kural is not alive at the time the inheritance is opened, it is requested that all of İnanır’s estate be distributed equally to the Human Rights Foundation of Turkey, the Nesin Foundation, and the Human Rights Association.

According to the information provided, İnanır revoked his previous will from 2015 and, in the 2022 will, left his three automobiles, his rights and shares in real estate, assets in bank and investment accounts, collections, works of art, claims, and copyright revenues to Kural.

The artist also transferred to Jülide Kural the permission and copyrights regarding initiatives such as making a documentary of his life or establishing an association, foundation, park, or art center in his name.

Lawyer Alınak stated that some claims regarding the will have recently created misinformation in the public eye and called for people not to rely on unverified news and commentary.

Alınak emphasized that they would follow the legal process to ensure the will is carried out. Reminding that reporting false information is a crime, Alınak announced that they would file legal applications with the relevant prosecutor's office as Jülide Kural’s counsel.

Lawyer Alınak’s statement is as follows:

“MY FINAL WISH AND DESIRE FROM MY HEIRS IS THAT THEY COMPLY WITH MY WILL”

“Ensuring that Mr. Kadir İnanır’s will is carried out completely was one of the last two requests he entrusted to me before his passing. Unfortunately, immediately after his death, some speculative and untruthful news regarding his will was circulated, causing misinformation. The heavy responsibility of Kadir İnanır’s request and the need to enlighten the public with accurate information have made this statement necessary.

The opening of the will, which was drawn up on 09.05.2022 at the Beyoğlu 48th Notary Public in Istanbul, with the necessary medical report obtained, in the presence of witnesses, and in full compliance with all legal formalities, has been postponed due to procedural steps that must be completed. The will is open to the inspection of all heirs, and its content and details are known to the parties.

Mr. Kadir İnanır has left all material and moral rights arising from his estate to our client and his life partner, Ms. Jülide Kural. Kadir İnanır, who requested that if Jülide Kural is not alive at the time the inheritance is opened, his entire estate be distributed equally to the Human Rights Association, the Human Rights Foundation of Turkey, and the Nesin Foundation, concluded his will by saying, ‘My final wish and desire from my heirs is that they comply with my will.’”

“We would like to express that legal matters concerning the will should not be turned into debates that overshadow this great loss, that speculative and disinformation-based news not based on the statements of the deceased or Jülide Kural should not be relied upon, and that advisory opinions on the subject should be made not based on opinions and assumptions, but within the framework of the fundamental principles of legal science and the provisions of the Civil Code regarding wills.”

WILL FILE A CRIMINAL COMPLAINT

“In this direction, we remind you that we will continue to follow the entire legal process with sensitivity to ensure the fulfillment of the will Kadir İnanır set forth, that reporting false information is a crime, and that we will file legal applications with the relevant Prosecutor’s Office as Jülide Kural’s counsel; we importantly state that the public should not rely on speculative evaluations and news that have not been verified by us until a new statement is made.”
