Kırmızı Kedi opens Turkish Culture Section in China

Cultural relations between Turkey and China have reached a new dimension. As part of a collaboration between Kırmızı Kedi Publishing and Xinhua, China's largest bookstore chain, the first Turkish Culture Section has been opened in Beijing. The emphasis on a "cultural bridge" stood out during the opening.

In accordance with an agreement signed between Kırmızı Kedi Publishing and the Xinhua Bookstore Chain, a Turkish Culture Section has been opened in Beijing, the capital of China. The opening of the Turkish Culture Section, held at the Century Hall in the Museum of the Communist Party of China, was attended by China Publishing Group Vice President Zhang Hong, Xinhua Publishing House Vice President Shen Jian, Xinhua Bookstore Chain Center Executive Director Ren Jiangzhe, Xinhua Bookstore Chain Assistant General Manager Assistant Yuan Hu, China Yearbook Editorial Assistant Liu Fang, Kırmızı Kedi Publishing founder Haluk Hepkon, Kırmızı Kedi Publishing China Library Editor Kamil Erdoğdu, Translator Giray Fidan, and Yunus Emre Cultural Center Director Eyüp Sarıtaş. 

“A WINDOW OF CULTURE IS OPENING” 

China Publishing Group Vice President Zhang Hong stated that there are cultural relations between the two countries based on a long history. Pointing out that the opening of mutual culture sections is a method not previously used in bilateral relations, Zhang said that this would set an example for other relations and deepen them. 

Xinhua Publishing House Vice President Shen Jian stated that the mutually opened culture sections open a new window in bilateral relations, using the expression, “this is a meaningful step that further deepens cooperation in cultural relations.” Shen added, “let us try to build a cultural bridge.” 

Xinhua Bookstore Chain Center Executive Director Ren Jiangzhe stated that “books are carriers of civilization and bridges of friendship,” and that the culture sections would accelerate cultural relations. Ren underscored that the culture sections, a successful project that will accelerate cultural relations, will facilitate the sharing of cultural products. 

“WE ARE BRINGING TURKISH LITERATURE TO CHINESE READERS” 

In his speech, Kırmızı Kedi Publishing founder Haluk Hepkon drew attention to the importance of the relationship established between Xinhua, China's largest bookstore chain, and Kırmızı Kedi Publishing. Hepkon continued his speech as follows:

“Last April, the Xinhua Bookstore Chain opened its first Chinese Culture Section at the Kırmızı Kedi Pera store in Istanbul. Today, here in Beijing, in Chaoyang, we are opening the first Kırmızı Kedi Turkish Culture Section. Culture and literature bring peoples closer together. The Turkish and Chinese peoples share a common destiny in today's world and must get to know each other better. Kırmızı Kedi will do its part in this process. We are proud to contribute to bringing Turkish literature and culture to Chinese readers”. 

Following the opening ceremony, the Museum of Publishing History was visited, and a dinner was hosted by China Publishing Group President Zhijian Huang.
