MHP protests, CHP-run municipality cancels Suavi concert

Artist Suavi was scheduled to perform at a concert organized by the Seydişehir Municipality in Konya as part of the August 30 Victory Day celebrations. Suavi's name, which had appeared in the previously announced program, was removed from the new schedule, and the concert was canceled.

According to the local news source Seydişehir'in Sesi, Seydişehir Ülkü Ocakları President Akın Bozkurt stated that they had held discussions with the municipality regarding the cancellation of the concert. 

Bozkurt stated, "We held a series of discussions with the Seydişehir Mayor's Office on the grounds that the Suavi concert, which was planned to be held in our district as part of the August 30 Victory Day events, did not align with our national sensitivities. As a result of these discussions, the concert was canceled by the Seydişehir Municipality, and the wound opened in the national conscience was closed before it could grow."

WHAT HAPPENED? 

A concert that artist Suavi intended to give in Beykoz during the 'August 19 World Beykoz Residents Day' event, organized by the Beykoz Municipality, faced an attempt at obstruction by a group making the "wolf salute" (bozkurt işareti). The group, which accused the artist of being a "terrorist," attempted to block the concert with slogans.

Suavi continued to sing his folk songs. Before the concert, MHP Beykoz District President Emre Çömlekçi declared that he found it "unacceptable" for Suavi to perform, and following the obstruction attempt, a post was made from the district presidency's account stating, "This is Beykoz, we told you not to come."

Artist Haluk Levent also evaluated the actions taken at the Suavi concert as a new lynching attempt, saying, "I would never forgive myself if I let anyone question Suavi's patriotism."
