MHP releases 'Cinema Yeşilçam' book: Bahçeli writes the foreword

The book "Cinema Yeşilçam" has been prepared under the auspices of Nationalist Movement Party Chairman Devlet Bahçeli. The book features 55 legendary figures of Turkish cinema to mark the 55th anniversary of the MHP's founding. Bahçeli also penned the book's foreword.

Stating that the characters in Turkish cinema who made audiences laugh, think, and feel sorrow have left deep marks on Turkish cinema and artistic life, MHP leader Bahçeli included the following remarks:

"Yeşilçam and the artists who gave color and spirit to Yeşilçam have played a tremendous role in the portrayal of social, cultural, economic, political, and psychological developments or realities within the scope of a screenplay. It is certainly a respectful support to Turkish cultural and artistic life, as well as a requirement of the loyalty felt toward artists, that these artists, each of whom is a school or even an institution in their own field, be etched into the national memory and remembered and recognized by future generations."

The book, which includes posters from the films "The Destruction of the Russian Monument at San Stefano" and "The Carpet Girl," presents excerpts from the artistic lives of Türkan Şoray, Filiz Akın, Fatma Girik, and Hülya Koçyiğit, known as the four-leaf clover of Turkish cinema.

The book includes information on the film careers, titles, and posters of many artists, from "Little Lady" Belgin Doruk to "Uncrowned King" Ayhan Işık, from the first stars of Yeşilçam, Nedret Güvenç and Eşref Kolçak, to Aliye Rona, Neriman Köksal, Cüneyt Arkın, Fikret Hakan, and the smiling faces of Turkish cinema, Şener Şen and Kemal Sunal.
