Ministry of Culture and Tourism announces: Devil's Castle to be restored
Following the transfer of the historic Devil's Castle, which is perched on the summit of cliffs in the middle of the Karaçay Canyon in the Çıldır district of Ardahan, to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, a project has been prepared for its restoration.

The Urartians are estimated to have built the castle, which draws attention with its location atop steep cliffs in the middle of the canyon.
The castle, which features a secret entrance, welcomes visitors in both summer and winter with its unique scenery.
The canyons surrounding the castle, which is among the spots visited by domestic and foreign tourists coming to the region, are also on the routes of mountaineers.
Provincial Director of Culture and Tourism Uğur Dede stated that the Devil's Castle has significant potential for regional tourism.

Explaining that they have been carrying out various studies and preparing a project under the leadership of Governor Hayrettin Çiçek to utilize this potential, Dede said, "The most important development was the transfer of the castle from the village legal entity to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. The file for its restoration project has been submitted to the Ministry to be included in the investment program. This is an important step for the restoration."
WELCOMES 60 THOUSAND TOURISTS ANNUALLY
Stating that once the restoration is completed, the Devil's Castle will be evaluated in conjunction with the Karaçay Canyon, Dede added, "This is a canyon suitable for all kinds of activities and events. Many activities can be carried out, from mountaineering to hiking routes and hydrotherapy. It has significant potential in many respects.
We need to act in a comprehensive and systematic manner. In its current state, the castle welcomes approximately 60 thousand tourists annually. There are times, including in winter, when 35-40 people visit daily. It is also an important region in terms of faith tourism."
