The practice of Banu Cennetoğlu, who works on the production, classification, and circulation policies of information, is often based on long-term research and records of personal and collective memory.
“neither carnation nor frog.” attempts to contemplate the concepts of fatherhood, rights, boundaries, loss, and power through the ambiguity of both speaking and making promises. The correspondence, banter, and outpourings shared between Banu Cennetoğlu and the exhibition's curator, Yavuz Parlar, specifically for this collaboration, support the structure of the exhibition while also evolving into an accompanying publication.
In her interdisciplinary practice, artist Banu Cennetoğlu, who questions memory politics, the production, distribution, and consumption of information by utilizing archival methods, has exhibited her works in cities such as Copenhagen, Athens, New York, London, Bucharest, and Basel to date.
