It was announced that the 29-year-old died in Pine Bluff just weeks before he was due to be released. While McAllister's cause of death has not been disclosed, it was stated that he passed away at the Jefferson Regional Medical Center, where he had been taken.

The series, which premiered on Netflix in April, documented life inside the prison. It was reported that McAllister, who began tattooing inside the prison, was incarcerated for crimes related to robbery, theft, and drugs.
Authorities stated that McAllister did not commit suicide and that his death was due to natural causes.
