Pir Sultan Abdal's house in Tunceli restored

Pir Sultan Abdal's house in the village of Hacılı in the Pülümür district of Tunceli, which is one of the two hearths where he lived, has been restored in accordance with its original state.

Speaking about the house, known locally as the "Great Dam" (Büyük Dam), Dede Mehmet Çelebi said, "Hızır Pasha exiled Pir Sultan from Sivas. From there, Pir Sultan went to the Ardabil Tekke in Khorasan. When the pir there told him, 'This is not your place, go and guide Anatolia,' Pir Sultan came and built this building here. The history we are talking about is roughly between the early 1400s and the late 1500s. While the workers were talking about the structure, they said, 'My Pir, a great pillar is needed here.'

Pir Sultan replied, 'You eat your meal, I am coming.' Pir Sultan, whose whereabouts were unknown, brought the great pillar and installed it here. He stayed here for a time and had children. He also had 3 sons and a daughter in Sivas," he said.

'IMPORTANT TO CARRY INTO THE FUTURE'

Pülümür Mayor Müslüm Tosun stated that the Pir Sultan Dervish Lodge is a place where all villagers hold a joint cem ceremony during the month of Hızır, emphasizing that it is extremely important to carry this site into the future.

Mayor Tosun said, "This is a 500-600-year-old structure. Its original state had not been spoiled, but it had become deformed. There were some initiatives regarding this. It was registered as a first-degree protected site by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Following these initiatives, it was restored in accordance with its original state by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Department of Cultural Heritage. This place is known as the Great Dam. In the Alevi tradition, it is a place where all villagers hold a joint cem ceremony during the month of Hızır. We hope that this tradition will continue in the coming period and that this structure will be preserved and carried into the future," he said.
