Portuguese singer passes away: Had participated in Eurovision

Sara Tavares, who represented her country Portugal in the 1994 Eurovision Song Contest with the song 'Chamar a Música', has passed away.

Singer Sara Tavares, who represented Portugal in the 1994 Eurovision Song Contest, has passed away at the age of 45.

Tavares had been diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2009.

Tavares won the final of the Endemol singing competition Chuva de Estrelas, which contributed to the victory of the "Television Song Contest" held in France in 1994 and enabled her to participate in the 1994 Eurovision.

FINISHED IN 8TH PLACE

Tavares finished the 1994 Eurovision contest in 8th place with the song "Chamar a Música".

She is also known for voicing the European Portuguese version of "God Help the Outcasts" for the Disney film "The Hunchback of Notre Dame", for which she won a Disney award for the best version of the original song.

Tavares was awarded the "Best Portuguese Singer" award in 2000, winning a Portuguese Golden Globe.
