Premiere of 'A Few Days Before Sunset' held at the 11th Bosphorus Film Festival

'A Few Days Before Sunset' film producer and cast member Uğur Güneş, director Yiğit Küçükkibar, producer Serhan Aydın, producer Yeşim Kocaman, producer Güvenç Selekman, cinematographer Ercan Işık, actor Serkan Ercan, actress Sahra Şaş and the film crew attended the post-screening talk.

The event was moderated by film critic Gökşen Aydemir.

The first speaker was the film's director Yiğit Küçükkibar. Küçükkibar began his speech by stating that, just like in every person's life, he has had his own breaking points, and that this film is more of a male story.

'COMMUNICATION IS THE FIRST CONDITION OF BEING HUMAN'

Adding that it is a story where imposed masculinity is questioned, Küçükkibar expressed that there were moments and stories in his own past that he witnessed regarding this. Küçükkibar continued his words as follows:

"I handled the events in the film on a character-based level. Communication is the first condition of being human. The bridge we see, especially while going to the mother's house, represents the constriction of the film. The one week I describe is like tar. I wanted to touch upon to what extent these two people can understand each other in 7 days."

When asked why the film's story takes place over 7 days, Yiğit Küçükkibar said, “The starting point of 7 days comes from the Abrahamic religions. I approached the subject philosophically. The world was created in 7 days. 7 days is an element that appears frequently in religions as well. I wanted to handle the 7 days within a cycle of creation and destruction. Would a life end at the end of 7 days, or would it continue? That is actually the reason.”

Emphasizing that almost the entire film crew are close friends, producer Güvenç Selekman stated that he and Uğur Güneş were schoolmates, that Devrim Yakut was their teacher at school, and that they have been working with Bülent Şakrak for years.

THE FILM'S SCREENPLAY WAS WRITTEN IN 7 DAYS

Uğur Güneş, one of the film's producers and also a lead actor, stated that he was involved in the entire process of the film and that they had wanted to shoot this project for 3 years.

Stating that the film's screenplay was written in 7 days and the shooting process was completed in 14 days, Güneş added that they never did a second take on set.

Directed by Yiğit Küçükkibar, "A Few Days Before Sunset" tells the story of the inner journey of two people forced onto the same path, packed into one week, through extraordinary experiences.
