Gökçe Akçelik, the lead singer of the band Replikas, has passed away at the age of 47.

Gökçe Akçelik, the 47-year-old founding member and lead singer of the band Replikas, has passed away. The cause of Akçelik's death has not been disclosed.

In a statement shared on the band's Instagram page, it was announced: "We are bidding farewell to our Gökçe tomorrow (12.08.2024) following the noon prayer at Karacaahmet Şehitlik Mosque."

WHO IS GÖKÇE AKÇELİK?

Founded in 1993 by Gökçe Akçelik, Barkın Engin, and Orçun Baştürk, the band Replikas expanded with the addition of Selçuk Artut in 1998 and Erden Özer Yalçınkaya in January 2000. The band reached its current lineup in 2005 when Burak Tamer replaced Yalçınkaya.

Leaving a lasting impact on the music world with albums such as 'Köledoyuran', 'Dadaruhi', 'Avaz', 'Zerre', and 'Biz Burada Yok İken', Replikas became one of the significant bands in Turkish rock music.
