The news of the death of screenwriter and author Şafak Güçlü, a beloved figure in the art world, was announced to the public through a statement made on the Film-San Foundation's social media account. The foundation stated, "We wish God's mercy upon screenwriter and author Şafak Güçlü and extend our condolences to his family and loved ones."

Şafak Güçlü had written the screenplays for popular films such as 'Çılgın Dersane', 'Çılgın Dersane 4: Ada', 'Büyü', and 'Melez'. Last year, he had shared on social media that he had been diagnosed with cancer and asked for prayers from his loved ones during this process.

HE HAD SHARED HIS TREATMENT PROCESS ON SOCIAL MEDIA

Güçlü had explained the health problems that began in June 2024 in detail on his social media account. Diagnosed with base of tongue cancer due to a mass detected at the base of his tongue, Güçlü had stated that he preferred radiotherapy and chemotherapy treatments instead of the major surgery recommended by surgeons. Expressing that he had started this treatment process, which was to last approximately 7 weeks, with hope, Güçlü had expressed his gratitude for the support messages he received from his friends.

Güçlü had shared his feelings with the words, "I cannot respond by voice to the friends who call and ask about me due to the treatment, but I am responding to your messages. I am infinitely grateful to all my friends who have truly stood by me and supported me during this difficult period. Endless thanks for everything. Until we meet again in much better health in the days to come."
