LOCAL CITIZENS IN THE REGION NOTICED THE ANCIENT HARBOR

According to information on TRT Haber; small islets formed on the shore in Burhaniye's İskele neighborhood as the sea receded. Müslüm Yıkılkan, who stated that he noticed the rocks while walking on Ören beach, said he had heard there was an ancient harbor in the area.

Stating that it is estimated the sea receded due to the effect of the northeasterly wind, Yıkılkan said, "When I saw the harbor ruins, I started taking photos. As a resident of Burhaniye, I felt very happy when the harbor came to light."

THE SEA HAS RECEDED BEFORE

Furkan Karademir, also from Burhaniye, mentioned that the seawater recedes during these months, saying, "In 2023, after the Hatay earthquake, the seawater receded even more than this. This is already a shallow area for seawater. Even if the water level drops by ten centimeters here, we can see the sea receding for meters. I don't know if it has anything to do with the earthquake."
