Şener Şen bids farewell to the stage
The doyen of Turkish theater and cinema, Şener Şen, has announced his retirement from acting after performing his play 'Zengin Mutfağı' (The Rich Kitchen) for the final time.

According to a statement from DasDas, the play achieved great success by performing to sold-out audiences for over 400 shows across 8 years.
Adapted from Vasıf Öngören's work of the same name, the play featured a cast including master actor Şener Şen, as well as Gizem Ergün, Onay Kaya, Uğur Arda Başkan, and Kutay Sandıkçı over the course of its 8-year run.
The play, which focuses on how the events of June 15-16, 1970—the largest labor movement in the history of the Republic—reflected in the kitchen of a wealthy family, was co-directed by Şener Şen and Doğu Yaşar Akal.
The play 'Zengin Mutfağı,' which has been staged since 1977 and starred Şener Şen, met with the audience for the last time at the Harbiye Cemil Topuzlu Open-Air Theater.
The 83-year-old master actor answered questions from journalists following his performance.
When asked, "Have you left the stage for good? Will there be a new play or film project?" Şen gave a short and clear answer: "No, it is over."
