The International Bodrum Ballet Festival, organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism General Directorate of State Opera and Ballet, which brings together ballet and modern dance companies from our country and around the world with art lovers, will be held this year from August 3-21, 2024, with the contributions of İş Bankası.

The festival, which has been held since 2003 in Bodrum—a city that has become a brand not only as a tourism and holiday destination but also through its rich cultural and artistic activities—will once again offer an artistic feast this year with colorful performances blending music and dance.

Details regarding the International Bodrum Ballet Festival, which will open its curtains for the 21st time this year, were shared at a press conference attended by İş Bankası General Manager Hakan Aran and the General Director and General Artistic Director of the State Opera and Ballet, Bedri Tan Sağtürk.

'WE ARE HAPPY TO PROVIDE SUPPORT'

Aran emphasized that the bank's activities in the field of culture and arts are carried out under the umbrella of İş Sanat; and that in addition to performing arts, İş Sanat conducts work in a wide variety of fields such as plastic arts, corporate history studies, museology, and cultural heritage.

Stating that they implemented many social projects last year on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of our Republic, and that the 100th anniversary of the founding of İş Bankası, established by Atatürk, will be celebrated this year, Aran said, "We are carrying out many projects in this year that is very special for us; we continue to work to contribute to our country and society in different fields from sports to science, from education to the environment, and to culture and arts.

It is very meaningful and valuable for us to support the 21st International Bodrum Ballet Festival, which will meet with art lovers in August, a month in which we will celebrate our 100th anniversary with enthusiasm and experience the excitement of taking a step toward our second century."

'SWAN LAKE' AT THE BODRUM BALLET FESTIVAL FOR THE FIRST TIME

General Director and General Artistic Director of the State Opera and Ballet Bedri Tan Sağtürk also said that the International Bodrum Ballet Festival will feature its richest program ever this year, with 11 performances of 6 works.

Stating that art lovers will have the opportunity to watch the dances of world-famous stars up close in the Swan Lake ballet, which will be performed for the first time in the festival program, Sağtürk said:

"We are planning for Ricardo Amarante and his Dance Company, with whom we are continuing negotiations to host them at the Bodrum Ballet Festival for the first time from Brazil, to take part in the festival with a delicious repertoire that combines tango steps with ballet steps.

'IT WILL BE A VISUAL FEAST'

The modern dance work 'Güldestan', which has been brought to art lovers many times in our country and on world stages and which we will celebrate the 25th anniversary of its staging this year, and which tells the concept of a journey with a weave of Sufi and contemporary themes, will also bring a magnificent visual feast to art lovers in Bodrum through the joint work of our Ankara and Istanbul Directorates.

An important work that will attract attention at the Bodrum Ballet Festival with its costumes, decor, dance, and music will be the Great Gatsby, which we premiered in Turkey this year."
