The life of Atıf Yılmaz is immortalized in a documentary

The life of Atıf Yılmaz, one of the most important figures in Turkish cinema, will meet audiences in a new documentary film. This project, directed by Ali Kemal Güven, began filming on December 9, Yılmaz's birthday. The documentary is produced by Seda Özkaraca and Witchcraft Films, and it is planned to be screened at festivals after its completion.

The documentary will feature interviews with Atıf Yılmaz's wife, Deniz Türkali, and his daughter, Kezban Arca Batıbeki, as well as prominent names of Turkish cinema such as Türkan Şoray, Müjde Ar, and Nurgül Yeşilçay. These individuals will share the values Yılmaz brought to cinema and their memories of him.

Atıf Yılmaz began his directing career in 1951 with the film "Kanlı Feryat" and became known for his innovative perspective on social issues, particularly in the 1960s. With films such as "Keşanlı Ali Destanı" and "Ah Güzel İstanbul," he brought town life and migration stories to the screen. After 1980, he was referred to in the press as "the director who best understands the female soul."

On the day filming for the documentary began, Atıf Yılmaz's birthday was also celebrated. On this special day, the director's relatives and the figures featured in the documentary came together to cut a cake and commemorate Yılmaz.
