The Taksim Maksemi, which gave the square its name, has become the Republic Museum
The historic Taksim Maksemi building, which gave Taksim Square its name, has been repurposed as the Republic Museum through restoration by IBB Heritage. The museum is scheduled to open on June 8.

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Secretary General Mahir Polat announced on his social media account that the Taksim Maksemi, one of the iconic structures of Ottoman heritage, will be repurposed as the Republic Museum by IBB Heritage teams.
Regarding the museum, which is planned to open on June 8, Polat wrote the following in his post on his X account:
"In a manner befitting the spirit of the Republic, we are gifting it to Istanbul and the people of Istanbul as the Republic Museum"
