The "Freedom for Palestine Tour," announced by US rapper Macklemore following his statements in support of Palestine, has been met with intense interest. Tickets for the three concerts, which were stated to have their proceeds donated to organizations advocating for the Palestinian people, sold out in a short time.

Macklemore had previously been removed from the remaining concerts of British singer Ed Sheeran's US tour. Following this decision, the Grammy-winning artist organized his own concerts and announced the interest shown in the events in Dublin, Paris, and London on his social media account.

“ART WILL ALWAYS BE A FORM OF RESISTANCE”

In his post, Macklemore stated that the concerts were prepared quickly, noting that musicians can stand in solidarity with Palestine and use the stage to raise funds.

“Honestly, I'm blown away. We put these shows together quickly, believing that musicians could stand in solidarity with Palestine, use the stage to raise funds, and show what collective action can look like. When those in power try to silence our calls for freedom, art will always be a form of resistance.”

The artist thanked his audiences in Dublin, Paris, and London and announced that the concert programs would be revealed soon. Macklemore expressed that the interest showed “how many people around the world stand together for a free Palestine.”

Macklemore's removal from the Ed Sheeran tour had sparked backlash on social media, and it was reported that other opening acts for Sheeran had also announced they would withdraw from the tour. Sheeran, meanwhile, had been criticized for remaining silent regarding the attacks in Gaza.

The US rapper has publicly expressed his support for Palestine many times since 2023, when Israel's attacks on Gaza began. Macklemore had previously donated the proceeds from his song “Hind's Hall 2,” prepared with Palestinian artists, to UNRWA.
