The Üsküdar Polyphonic Youth Choir, which continues its activities under the Üsküdar Municipality, will hold auditions to select its new choristers for the 2026-2027 season.

The auditions, which are open to young people interested in polyphonic music, will take place on September 12-13, 2026, between 10:00 and 17:00 at the Üsküdar Bağlarbaşı Culture Center. Candidates will be called before the jury in the order of their application.

No prior conservatory training or professional music education is required to join the choir. The auditions will be open to candidates between the ages of 15 and 30. It was announced that applications will be made online via the Üsküdar Municipality website, and the deadline for applications is September 11.

Candidates' musical hearing, melody repetition, voice usage, and diction skills will be evaluated during the auditions. The process will include stages such as repeating a single note played on the piano using the syllables "a" or "na," singing two notes at the correct intervals, and repeating short melodies.

In the auditions, candidates will also be asked to read a short Turkish text with correct diction and fluency. In the free performance section, which is one of the mandatory stages, candidates will sing a piece they have prepared in advance, unaccompanied, before the jury.

For the free performance section, candidates may choose popular music, Turkish folk music, Turkish art music, an anthem, a choral piece, a musical theater piece, or a song in a foreign language.

The auditions will be conducted by a jury consisting of expert music educators, chaired by Alp Aygün, the Founding Conductor and General Music Director of the Üsküdar Polyphonic Youth Choir.
