Born in Kosovo in 1935, Meral Kurtuluş immigrated to Turkey with her family in the 1950s. Meral Kurtuluş, who married one of Turkish cinema's beloved figures, Cevat Kurtuluş, in 1959, began her film career with the 1960 film Ayşecik. Appearing in approximately 100 films throughout her career, Kurtuluş was among the prolific and beloved actresses of Yeşilçam.
