7-year-old Zayn Sofuoğlu, known for his achievements in motorsports at a young age, is now preparing to meet audiences on television screens. Sofuoğlu has joined the new season cast of the period drama “Mehmed: Fetihler Sultanı”, which airs on TRT 1.
According to the announcement by TRT, in his first acting experience, Sofuoğlu will portray the childhood of Şehzade Selim, the grandson of Fatih Sultan Mehmed. Şehzade Selim is known as the ruler who later ascended the Ottoman throne and went down in history as Yavuz Sultan Selim.
The young athlete, who represents Turkey in international motorsports organizations, will thus be taking part in the set of a historical production following his performances on the track.
“Mehmed: Fetihler Sultanı” covers the life of Fatih Sultan Mehmed and the political and military struggles of the Ottoman Empire after the conquest of Istanbul. In the series broadcast on TRT 1, the character of Sultan Mehmed is played by Serkan Çayoğlu.
In the production, which is expanding its cast ahead of the new season, new characters are expected to be included in the story with a time jump.
