WHO IS ZENDAYA?

Zendaya Maree Stoermer Coleman (born September 1, 1996), known as Zendaya, is an American young actress, singer, dancer, and model. She began her career at a young age as part of a dance group called Future Shock Oakland, and through work with the California Shakespeare Theater in Orinda, the Oakland School for the Arts, and the Cal Shakes summer conservatory program.

When she was young, she appeared in the Kidz Bop version of the music video for Katy Perry's hit single Hot n Cold. She began her professional career working for Macy's, Mervyn's, and Old Navy.

In 2009, she auditioned for the role of Rocky Blue in the Disney Channel series known as Shake It Up. Several of the songs she sang on the show were released as singles. She also released a promotional video for Swag It Out that year.

Zendaya invested the money she earned from her success on Shake It Up into Make Your Mark: Ultimate Dance Off 2011. She starred alongside Bella Thorne in the 2012 Disney Channel original movie Frenemies.

That year, more of Zendaya's work was released in Season 2 of Shake It Up and on Shake It Up: Live 2 Dance. After signing a deal with Disney under the Hollywood Records label, she began working on her first solo album.

In early 2013, Zendaya joined Season 16 of Dancing With the Stars as the show's youngest contestant and finished in second place. That July, it was decided that Shake It Up would end, and in the following months, her book Between U and Me and her debut album Zendaya were released. The album's single Replay was released on July 16, 2013, reached number 40 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 18 in New Zealand, and was certified platinum by the RIAA on July 30, 2014.

Her self-titled album was released on September 17 and reached number 51 on the Billboard 200. Zendaya's first solo film, Zapped, was released in 2014. It was also announced in March 2016 that she would be one of the leads in the film Spider-Man: Homecoming, playing the character of Michelle.

It was also announced that the new Spider-Man film would be released in July 2017. About a year and a half after the series Shake It Up ended, Zendaya made a quick return to the screen as a lead in the series K.C. Undercover.

In 2019, she played the lead character Rue Bennett in the HBO teen drama Euphoria, and with this role, she won an Emmy Award in 2020, making history as the youngest actress to win the award at age 24.
