Patrol teams affiliated with the Yüreğir District Police Department stopped a light commercial vehicle with license plate 33 ALD 632 in the Koza Neighborhood after finding it suspicious.
Upon seeing meat inside black bags in the vehicle, the police detained the driver, Nurettin S. A veterinarian from the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture, who was called to the scene, determined that the meat belonged to soliped animals and could be horse or donkey meat.
The 1.5 tons of seized meat were taken into custody by officials to be destroyed. Nurettin S., who claimed to be a butcher, defended himself by saying, “The meat belongs to me, I slaughtered it myself. I was going to distribute it to my relatives.” Legal proceedings were initiated against Nurettin S. for the crime of 'spoiled or altered food'.
