Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç announced that one person has been arrested in connection with the verbal and physical attack on those distributing AKP election brochures in the Maltepe district of Istanbul.
Tunç, in a statement on his social media account, strongly condemned the verbal and physical attack on citizens distributing AKP election brochures in the Maltepe district of Istanbul.
Wishing a speedy recovery to 72-year-old Ramazan Şahin, who was injured in the head during the attack, Tunç shared the information that, "Within the scope of the judicial investigation initiated by the Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the attack, 6 suspects were taken into custody, 1 suspect was arrested, and judicial control measures were imposed on 5 suspects."
Emphasizing that elections are festivals of democracy where the national will is manifested, Tunç stated, "There is no place for violence in democracies. Such attacks on our democracy, unity, and solidarity will never achieve their goal."
