1 person dies in fire in Kocaeli

A fire broke out for unknown reasons at a recycling warehouse located in the Küçük Sanayi Sitesi in the Başiskele district of Kocaeli. The flames spread to 4 businesses.

Upon notification by those in the vicinity, numerous fire and police teams were dispatched to the scene of the fire.

The fire was brought under control after 1 hour of intervention by 21 vehicles and 71 firefighting personnel. The lifeless body of 1 person, whose identity has not yet been determined, was found in the recycling warehouse.

The worker who lost their life in the fire was taken to the Kocaeli State Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

Kocaeli Governor Seddar Yavuz, who arrived in the region to conduct investigations, received information from the authorities. Following his inspection, Yavuz made a statement on his X account.

Yavuz's statement is as follows:

"Six businesses were affected by the fire that broke out in the Başiskele Küçük Sanayi Sitesi; the Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department and other units intervened in the incident rapidly, and the fire has been extinguished.

Unfortunately, one person has lost their life.

We have conducted investigations at the scene."
