10 billion dollar agreement between Turkey and Ghana

A delegation consisting of Dr. Akwasi Opong Fosu, Chairman of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre, and members of the Parliament of the Republic of Ghana visited Ankara, organized by the headquarters of the Confederation of Industry and Trade (SANKON), to contribute to economic and commercial relations between Turkey and Ghana.

Dr. Akwasi Opong Fosu, Chairman of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre, and his delegation visited public institutions and numerous SANKON member companies and factories in Ankara to hold talks. Dr. Akwasi Opong Fosu, Chairman of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre, signed an agreement covering strategic and important sectors such as construction, infrastructure and superstructure, energy, technology, healthcare investments, textiles, food, the pharmaceutical industry, the defense industry, gold mines, oil, and fuel to contribute to economic and commercial relations between Turkey and Ghana. With this agreement, Turkish companies and the Africa Global Emergency Investment Center (AGEC), which operates in countries across the African continent, will engage in economic and commercial cooperation with SANKON, aiming for a trade volume of 10 billion dollars between the two countries.

At the signing ceremony held between Turkey and Ghana, the agreement was signed by SANKON President Ferudun Cevahiroğlu on behalf of Turkish companies, and by Dr. Akwasi Opong Fosu, former Minister of Economy and current Chairman of the Investment Promotion Centre in the new government, in his capacity as President of the Africa Global Emergency Investment Center (AGEC) on behalf of the Republic of Ghana.

Speaking at the economic and commercial cooperation agreement signing ceremony, SANKON President Ferudun Cevahiroğlu said, "We have full faith that this agreement will make significant contributions to the economies of both countries. As Turkish companies, we are ready to take part in projects in the Republic of Ghana, and we will continue with great determination to fulfill the terms of the agreement we signed today and to contribute to our economic and commercial relations between Turkey and Ghana in the future. During the term of our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, our economic and commercial relations between Turkey and Ghana have strengthened significantly. We have a strong and strategic partnership and cooperation with the Republic of Ghana in every field. As Turkish companies, we welcome these developments with great satisfaction and support them with our strongest sentiments."

Cevahiroğlu thanked the Government of the Republic of Turkey and the Government of the Republic of Ghana for the realization of the economic and commercial cooperation agreement between the two countries. Cevahiroğlu stated, "We would like to thank Dr. Akwasi Opong Fosu, Chairman of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre, his delegation, and the Members of the Parliament of the Republic of Ghana for their support and contributions to the signing of this strong economic cooperation agreement between the two countries."

Dr. Akwasi Opong Fosu, Chairman of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre, touched upon Turkey-Ghana relations and said, "We have strong historical ties between our two countries. As the Republic of Ghana, we attach great importance to our relations with Turkey, and we visited Ankara with a delegation to take these relations to higher levels. We held very productive talks here. We are very happy that the Economic and Commercial cooperation agreement between Turkey and Ghana has been concluded. I would like to thank SANKON President Ferudun Cevahiroğlu for his support and contributions to the strengthening of our economic relations between Turkey and Ghana."

Dr. Akwasi Opong Fosu also announced that the protocol he signed in his capacity as the president of the Africa Global Emergency Investment Center (AGEC) covers projects across the entire African continent, primarily in Ghana. Following the signing ceremony of the economic and commercial cooperation agreement between Turkey and Ghana, the Ambassador of the Republic of Ghana to Ankara, Abdul-Nasiru Deen, hosted a dinner at the Embassy residence for Dr. Akwasi Opong Fosu, Chairman of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre, the Members of the Parliament of the Republic of Ghana, and the SANKON delegation.

Dr. Akwasi Opong Fosu, Chairman of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre, and his delegation completed their contacts and departed from Ankara.
