The CHP's Charter Congress, which will take place between September 4-9, has become the number one agenda item in politics.
12punto columnist and Marmara University faculty member Prof. Dr. Barış Doster shared notable observations from the Congress.
TWO KEYWORDS...
Prof. Dr. Doster stated, "As far as I have observed; Ekrem Bey, Özgür Bey, and Kemal Bey will weigh their strengths," and continued his assessment as follows:
"If what Özgür Bey says happens, he will emerge from the Congress with a stronger hand. Regarding the charter articles, one is the 3-term limit and the other is the primary election; these two are the keywords. If Kemal Bey makes a move regarding the voting of the articles and does not find what he hopes for, he will leave as someone who did not get what he expected."
Prof. Dr. Doster also conveyed the atmosphere at the Congress. Expressing his view based on his observations so far that there will be no tension at the Congress, Prof. Dr. Doster also responded as follows to the question of who would benefit if the 3-term limit passes:
3-TERM LIMIT
"It will benefit young politicians in the party. It brings dynamism to the party's organization. They say it will pass with a large majority, preventing criticisms such as 'politics is not a profession, people don't leave once they sit in their seats.' It will be positive."
CRITICAL PRIMARY ELECTION ARTICLE
Prof. Dr. Doster made notable comments regarding the primary election article, which he finds critical. Stating, "There might be some trouble with the primary election. Current laws state that the Parliamentary Group determines the presidential candidate," Prof. Dr. Doster continued his words:
"Another option is 100 thousand signatures. When one says, 'I want to determine the presidential candidate with all members,' this is a situation contrary to the law. We will all wait and see what kind of formula they will apply there."
PRIMARY ELECTION MESSAGE FROM ÖZEL
CHP leader Özgür Özel said in his speech at the Congress, "We have not set aside those who try to contribute to the AKP's victory; we have no business with them anymore."
Özel also announced that the chairman will also enter the primary election.
