The meeting between former IYI Party Chair Meral Akşener and President and AKP Chair Recep Tayyip Erdoğan continues to remain a hot topic. The lack of a statement to the press following the pair's meeting raised the question, "Will Akşener join the People's Alliance?"

It was alleged that IYI Party Çanakkale MP Rıdvan Uz, who reportedly reacted to the meeting between Erdoğan and Akşener, had requested the removal of Meral Akşener's photographs during a closed-door party group meeting.

Upon the request for her photograph to be removed, Akşener made the following statement:

"I submit for your information that, in line with the request of IYI Party Çanakkale MP Rıdvan Uz during the closed group meeting held on June 12, 2024, for my photographs as 'Founding Chair' to be removed from the Headquarters, MP, Provincial, and District Organization offices due to my visit to the President, the necessary instructions have been given for this to be carried out immediately."

REQUEST FOR EXPULSION WITH PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES

Following all these developments, IYI Party Deputy Chair Hakan Şeref Olgun used the following expressions on his X account:

"IYI Party Çanakkale MP Rıdvan UZ has been referred to the Joint Disciplinary Board by our Chair, Mr. D. Müsavat DERVİŞOĞLU, based on the authority granted to him by the Party Charter, with PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES and a request for PERMANENT EXPULSION."
