The first hearing of the lawsuit filed by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, requesting the removal of Istanbul Bar Association President Prof. Dr. İbrahim Kaboğlu and the members of the Board of Directors from office in accordance with Article 77/5 of the Attorneys' Law, is being held today.
While journalists and union representatives were not admitted to the courtroom, it was learned that only current and former bar association presidents were allowed inside.

The bar association hearing was moved to the 27th High Criminal Court on the grounds that the courtroom was too small.
The hearing began at 12:00 PM.
Attorney Baran Doğan presented objections regarding the formation of the parties, citing that Istanbul Bar Association Board Member Attorney Fırat Epözdemir is currently in detention and under restriction.
Bar Association President Prof. Dr. İbrahim Kaboğlu also presented his objections within the scope of the Constitution.
Requests for connection via SEGBIS (Audio and Visual Information System) or for the defendant to be present in court were denied.
A 5-minute recess was granted for an interim decision in the case.
INTERIM DECISION ANNOUNCED IN THE CASE
The interim decision has been announced in the lawsuit filed to remove Istanbul Bar Association President İbrahim Kaboğlu and the members of the Board of Directors from office.
According to the decision reached: the request for concrete norm review regarding the claim of unconstitutionality was rejected, the request to make the criminal case a pending issue was rejected, and it was decided to establish a connection via SEGBIS with Board Member Attorney Fırat Epözdemir for the next session.
The next hearing will be held on March 21, 2025.
