Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş spoke about the work and preparations for the application process for the Family and Youth Fund.
Minister Göktaş stated the following in her remarks to journalists following the Cabinet meeting:
“As the Ministry, we have completed the background work and preparations regarding the application process. The Ministry of Treasury and Finance is continuing its regulatory preparations. With the economic support component of the program, a total of 150,000 lira in loan support with a 48-month maturity and a 2-year grace period will be offered to individuals whose applications are approved. With this fund, we will invest in the future of our youth using the revenue generated from Turkey’s underground resources. We will support our youth in their marriage processes and provide education and counseling services aimed at protecting them from social risks. We will launch the first implementation of the fund in the earthquake zone. In the coming period, we will expand it to cover all our youth across all of Turkey.
CLAIM OF "MAKING PEOPLE DEPENDENT ON SOCIAL ASSISTANCE"
These claims are completely untrue. 82 percent of those benefiting from social assistance are citizens who are unable to work. One-time payments aimed at reducing the negative effects caused by disasters and emergencies are also included in this figure. Assistance requests reach us through the system within 4 minutes. Previously, this period used to take up to 30 days."
