In the Beyoğlu district of Istanbul, a 16-year-old boy shot his peer of the same age in the leg, alleging that the victim had been gossiping about him in the neighborhood. The boy, who fled the scene, was apprehended by police officers from the Beyoğlu Public Security Bureau.
The incident occurred last Tuesday around 16:00 in the Piyalepaşa neighborhood of Beyoğlu. According to the information obtained, the 16-year-old suspect, identified as A.K., went after his friend M.N.T., whom he claimed had been talking behind his back in the neighborhood. Finding his friend on a street, A.K. drew his weapon and opened fire. As a result of the attack, M.N.T. was wounded in his leg and foot, while the attacker, A.K., fled the scene running with the weapon in his hand. The moments the attacker fled were captured on camera.
16-YEAR-OLD SHOOTS PEER
Following the incident, after the initial intervention by medical teams who arrived upon notification, the wounded M.N.T. was taken to the hospital by ambulance and placed under treatment.
It was learned that the young man's life is not in danger.
Meanwhile, police teams launched an investigation into the incident. As part of the investigation, police officers from the Beyoğlu Public Security Bureau, who took the statement of the wounded M.N.T., began reviewing security camera footage from the surrounding area.
ATTACKER APPREHENDED
Within the scope of the investigation, it was determined that the attacker was 16-year-old A.K., who has 9 prior criminal records at the police department.
Conducting raids on locations where the individual might be hiding, the police apprehended him on a street near the scene of the incident along with the weapon used in the crime.
A.K., who was taken into custody, was brought to the police station. In his statement there, A.K. said, “He was talking behind my back and gossiping about me. So I shot him when I saw him.”
Having completed his processing, A.K. was referred to the courthouse, where he was arrested by the court on charges of “intentional injury” and sent to prison.
