180,000 messages recovered from the phone Seçil Erzan claimed she 'smashed'! 'I kept it just in case'
In the multi-million dollar fraud case that has gripped Turkey, 180,000 WhatsApp messages have been recovered from the personal phone of former Denizbank branch manager Seçil Erzan, who had claimed, 'They told me to smash it and throw it away, and to delete all the correspondence inside. I deleted some of the messages and smashed the screen.'

New details continue to emerge in the fraud case where former Denizbank branch manager Seçil Erzan allegedly collected money from football players and businesspeople under the name of the 'Fatih Terim Fund' with promises of high returns.
When Seçil Erzan was taken into custody, a search of her home in Çorlu uncovered not only working iPhones but also an iPhone with a smashed screen.
'I KEPT IT JUST IN CASE'
Seçil Erzan provided information about this phone in her second statement given on May 3. According to a report by Hürriyet, Seçil Erzan explained the story of this mobile phone in her statement as follows:
“Before I was taken into custody, the bank allocated a phone and a line for me to use. During the search, two phones and two lines were seized at my residence. One of them is the phone and line allocated to me by the bank. It is completely password-free. However, when the bank gave me this phone, they told me to smash my previous phone and throw it away, and to delete all the correspondence inside it.
At that time, I was scared and smashed the screen of this phone. Before that, I had deleted as many of my WhatsApp messages as I could. Still, I kept this phone just in case. I currently want to hand this phone over to you. If the messages on this phone can be recovered even if they were deleted, I want them to be retrieved. It will be seen, in particular, how I was threatened by Semih Kaya and Fırat Özdemir.”
UNDER INVESTIGATION
The smashed phone, for which Seçil Erzan also provided the password, was taken under investigation by expert police officers at the Istanbul Police Department.
The deleted messages from the phone were also recovered. Thus, 180,000 WhatsApp messages were obtained from the device. The messages were taken under review by police officers who worked during the investigation phase and are familiar with the entire file.
