2 people arrested for attacking Atatürk statue in Kayseri

In a statement released by the Kayseri Governor's Office, it was announced that the 2 individuals who attacked the Atatürk statue in Cumhuriyet Square yesterday have been arrested and sent to prison.

Kayseri'de yesterday at noon, a man and a woman attacked the Atatürk statue in the ceremonial area at Cumhuriyet Square with an axe, and were taken into custody by police teams in a short time.

Regarding the individuals taken into custody, the statement made by the Kayseri Governor's Office included the following: "The 2 individuals, who were determined to be an uncle and niece, who attempted to damage the Atatürk Monument located in our city's Cumhuriyet Square with an axe, were intervened and taken into custody by our Provincial Police Department teams in a short time upon receiving a report. Digital materials seized during searches conducted at the individuals' residences have been confiscated, and the investigation is continuing in all its aspects. The individuals taken into custody, Y.K., born in 1965 and registered in Tufanbeyli, and Z.A., born in 1993 and registered in Kocasinan, were arrested by the judicial authorities they were brought before today and delivered to prison.
