2 suspects released in investigation into Ferdi Zeyrek's death: Further detentions possible

Two suspects referred to the courthouse as part of the investigation into the death of Manisa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ferdi Zeyrek, who lost his life after being electrocuted at his home, have been released.

The expert report prepared within the scope of the investigation conducted by the Manisa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has reached the prosecutor's office.

According to the report, Yalçın Ö., who is responsible for the maintenance of the pool and is considered to have been negligent in the incident, and Ahmet S., who is responsible for the maintenance and security of the site and was determined not to have reported the residual current situation, were taken into custody.

It was learned that the investigation will be deepened in line with the technical findings in the report and that new detention orders will be issued.

The suspects, whose procedures were completed at the Manisa Provincial Police Department, were referred to the courthouse.

The suspects, who were referred to the criminal judgeship of peace after their statements at the prosecutor's office, were released under judicial control conditions.

Manisa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ferdi Zeyrek, who was electrocuted while trying to check a malfunction in the pool's machine room at his home in the Yunusemre district on the evening of June 6, passed away on June 9 at the Manisa Celal Bayar University Hafsa Sultan Hospital, where he had been taken in critical condition.
