20 Turkish sailors evacuated from ship after fire

According to reports in the national press, the engines of the Panama-flagged ship named "Guana" caught fire yesterday off the coast of the town of Penmarch in Brittany. The ship's engine became inoperable due to the fire. When the engine could not be repaired, the crew of the 150-meter ship found themselves in a difficult situation.
According to a statement from the Atlantic Maritime Prefecture, some of the 20 Turkish sailors on board were evacuated by air and others by sea. The 14 Turkish sailors evacuated by helicopter were brought to the Lanveoc-Poulmic naval air base around 23:00 local time yesterday.
The other 6 Turkish sailors were transferred to a Spanish ship named Esperanza del Mar, which was heading toward the French city of Brest. A tugboat named Abeille Bourbon approached the Guana ship during the night. The tugboat is planned to bring the ship to Brest today.
It was stated that the Guana ship was transporting iron filings to Turkey. According to diplomatic sources, Turkey's Consulate General in Nantes is in contact with local French authorities regarding the situation of the 20 Turkish sailors.
