25 kilos of gold and 50 kilos of silver were stolen: Fugitive suspects in the 147 million lira courthouse robbery surrender to Turkey
It has been learned that Muhammed Seferoğulları and Muhammed Efe, who were wanted as fugitives in the investigation into the theft of 25 kilograms of gold and 50 kilograms of silver from the judicial depository of the Büyükçekmece Courthouse, have arrived in Turkey from Georgia and surrendered to Turkish authorities at the Sarp Border Gate.

A new development has occurred in the investigation regarding the theft that took place at the judicial depository of the Istanbul Büyükçekmece Courthouse. It was stated that Muhammed Seferoğulları and Muhammed Efe, who were wanted as fugitives within the scope of the investigation, were apprehended by Georgian security units and held in prison for a period of time.
It was learned that Muhammed Seferoğulları, who is alleged to have organized the robbery and waited in the vehicle during the incident, and his cousin Muhammed Efe entered Turkey via the Sarp Border Gate in the evening hours and surrendered to Turkish authorities.
IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE GOLD AND SILVER WERE TAKEN TO AĞRI
In previous efforts within the scope of the investigation, it was determined that the gold and silver stolen from the courthouse depository were taken by vehicle to the Doğubayazıt district of Ağrı. While 16 suspects determined to be connected to the incident were apprehended, the search for some individuals who were still at large had continued.
On the other hand, efforts are ongoing to apprehend courthouse staff member Erdal Timurtaş, who is identified as one of the primary suspects in the investigation.
DETAILS OF THE ROBBERY HAD EMERGED
According to the investigation file, Erdal Timurtaş arrived at the courthouse on November 13 before the start of the workday. It was determined that Timurtaş placed approximately 147 million lira worth of 25 kilograms of gold and 50 kilograms of silver found in the safes into bags and carried them out of the building using a shopping cart used for transporting files in the courthouse corridors.
In the investigation launched following the incident, one person was taken into custody, and it was determined that Timurtaş and his wife had fled to the United Kingdom. A request had been made for the issuance of a red notice for both individuals.
