Three ISIS members identified as preparing for an attack were captured in an operation conducted in Istanbul. It was determined that the mobile phones of the 3 suspects, 2 of whom are women, contained information regarding the construction of improvised explosive devices and suicide vests.

Three ISIS members identified as preparing for an attack in Istanbul were captured following an operation. It was determined that the mobile phones of the 3 ISIS members, 2 of whom are women, contained information regarding the construction of improvised explosive devices and suicide vests.

As part of an operation conducted by the Istanbul Police Department's Counter-Terrorism Branch and Intelligence Branch, 3 individuals identified as having links to the organization were placed under technical and physical surveillance. During the investigation, an operation was carried out against the suspects whose addresses were identified. 

In the operation, which was also attended by special operations police, 3 organization members—identified as M.A., R.K., and T.A., 2 of whom are women—were captured after their links to the organization and connections to conflict zones were uncovered.

THEY WERE PREPARING FOR AN ATTACK

It was revealed that the digital materials and mobile phones seized from the 3 captured individuals contained information regarding the construction of improvised explosive devices and suicide vests. The 3 organization members, who were determined to be making attack plans, were taken to the Istanbul Police Department's Vatan Campus to have their statements taken.

The 3 individuals, whose connections and contacts in Turkey are being examined, were cross-examined by teams from the Counter-Terrorism Branch. The suspects, whose statements were completed, were referred to the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan on Friday, December 20. The 3 organization members were arrested and sent to prison.
