3 more mayors to join AKP

According to posts by journalists Fatih Atik and İsmail Saymaz, Keçiören Mayor Mesut Özarslan, Nevşehir Mayor Rasim Arı, and Keşan Mayor Mehmet Özcan, who resigned from the CHP, are expected to join the AKP. It is alleged that the joining ceremony will take place at the AKP Extended Provincial Chairs Meeting.

It has been alleged that Keçiören Mayor Mesut Özarslan, whose name has frequently been linked to the AKP since leaving the CHP, and Nevşehir Mayor Rasim Arı, who was elected from the İYİ Party, will join the AKP. It was also claimed that Keşan Mayor Mehmet Özcan, who resigned from the CHP, will join the party at the same ceremony.

The claim was first brought to the agenda by TGRT columnist Fatih Atik on his social media account. Atik argued that three mayors will be pinned with AKP badges at the ceremony to be held tomorrow.

İsmail Saymaz ALSO SHARED THE SAME CLAIM

Journalist İsmail Saymaz also claimed in a post on his social media account that the three aforementioned names would join the AKP.

Saymaz used the following expressions in his post:

"Keşan Mayor Mehmet Özcan, who resigned from the CHP today, is joining the AK Party tomorrow. Özcan managed Keşan for 15 uninterrupted years from 2004 to 2019 and was re-elected in 2024. Özcan has been a CHP member for 22 years... Tomorrow, İYİ Party's Nevşehir Mayor Rasim Arı and Keçiören Mayor Mesut Özarslan, who left the CHP, are also being pinned with AK Party badges."
