3 people arrested for sending threatening messages to Atlas's family

Following reports that threatening messages were sent to Atlas's family, an investigation was launched, resulting in the arrest of 3 individuals identified as the senders of these messages.

The investigation by the Istanbul Police Department into suspects who sent threatening messages to the family of 17-year-old Atlas Çağlayan, who was killed in Güngören on January 14, and who made provocative posts on social media accounts, is ongoing.

While the processing of the 4 suspects apprehended yesterday continues at the police station, 2 more suspects identified as having made provocative posts were taken into custody.

Thus, the number of people in custody regarding the investigation rose to 6. Three suspects in custody were released following their processing at the police station upon the instructions of the prosecutor's office.

It was learned that 2 of the 3 suspects who sent threatening messages to Çağlayan's family were taken into custody outside the city. Following their processing at the police station, 1 suspect was referred to the Bakırköy Courthouse.

3 PEOPLE ARRESTED

The statements of the 2 suspects caught in a province outside of Istanbul were taken via the Audio and Video Information System (SEGBİS). Following their statements at the prosecutor's office, the 3 suspects were referred to the criminal judgeship of peace with a request for arrest. The 3 suspects were arrested by the court they were brought before.
